The all new 2020 Jayco Conquest FA.24-4 Motorhome has just arrived at Watsons Leisure Centre. This RV has been able to show the WLC team that it has a few new tricks up its sleeve, despite being a replacement for recently retired Renault Master RM.23-4 layout.

Driving Experience

For those of you who have driven the previous 6-speed automated manual Fiat Ducato motorhome cab will be pleasantly surprised with the additional power, 50Nm to be exact, from the previous model. In addition, this vehicle will use its new 9-speed fully automatic transmission to ensure higher performance from its 2.3L Turbo Diesel engine, as well as smoother gear changes.

It’s not all about performance for the sake of fuel efficiency either, with the new Stop / Start feature introduced, allowing drivers to be more economical during slow traffic driving where the RV will stop the engine and restart when depressing the brake pedal, similar to a number of modern cars.

One thing unanimously mentioned by the Watsons Leisure Centre team were the improvements in the cab in regards to road safety and comfort.

Safety

Designed specifically for motorhomes, Bosche Electronic Stability Control (ESC) is now available on all new Fiat Jayco Conquest Motorhomes as standard. Whilst having features such as hill-holder which works great, its ultimately responsible for applying the correct brake pressure to a wheel to correct the effects of understeer or oversteer.

Accompanying Bosche ESC, the new Fiat cab also has Full Brake Control. Full Brake Control refers to the system that uses a camera installed at the top of the windscreen that monitors for potential collisions in front of the vehicle. If the Full Brake Control system senses an imminent collision, brakes are automatically applied to avoid or minimise the risk of an impact.

One of the first things we noticed different to the previous cab is the main dash that now displays the speed limit, as part of their new Traffic Sign Recongition System. This system uses a camera to identify road signs and display the speed limit sign on the dash to inform the driver.

Drivers of the new Fiat Ducato cab will also notice rain and dusk sensors as standard.

Comfort

New to the 2020 Jayco Conquest, Fiat Ducato cab is Climate Control. Just set it to auto and the RV will adjust temperature, fan speed and direction of the air as required, or switch over to manual and take full control.

If you are spending any length of time behind the wheel, you will appreciate the chair support system on the Fiat driver and passenger seats. Hydraulic Shock Absorber and mechanical spring system ensure a cushy ride. This system has a weight adjustment to suit all body types as well as adjustable arm rests for maximum comfort.

Inside

If you are familiar with the Jayco Conquest RM.23-4 available until earlier in the year you should see mostly similarities.
Rear Club Lounge and Separate Toilet & Shower being popular features in the past, this layout is also a stand-out, being a true 4-berth i.e. seatbelts AND beds for 4.
